Just thought I'd let people know... Sariel's animal spirit guide is a polar bear. The polar bear will be appearing quite often in the book as a mentor. If anyone wants to include the polar bear in their deviation that would be perfectly fine. Her secondary animal spirit guide is the butterfly... so same goes for butterflies as well.

The Local College Newspaper Is Doing A Story On My Contest!!!


I'm holding a contest for the cover of the first novel in my upcoming trilogy. Should you win 3rd-5th place your work will be printed in the text of the book as an illustration. Should you win second place your work will be printed on the back cover, and the first place prize of course is THE FRONT COVER!!!!

All of the winners will be credited in FULL on the first page of the book. The judging will be based on a point system and will be a cumulative result of ALL of the judges opinions. All of the judges opinions are equal in the point system, and this rules out the possibility of any bias or corruption.

HERE ARE THE FLEXIBLE GUIDELINES:
You must tailor the front cover to the story. If you would like a PDF of the 6 page TEASER to better design your piece please note me with your e-mail address. I will then send you a PDF so you can get a better feel for where the book is going. Here's the synopsis for reference....

In a world torn by fear, a fallen Archangel must help the planet heal to prevent imminent destruction. Sariel has incarnated many times before, but has chosen to accept a sacred quest to incarnate in this time and place. Armed with the power of the light, and on a mission to conquer the darkness, Sariel is the last of the Watchers to come back to Earth. She must bring the Knowledge of Ages back to humanity before the planet falls into crisis.

I've uploaded brushes you can use as templates here --> Notice the wings have a very distinct shape and style to them, they are described the way they are shown in the book, so the wings in your deviation should be relatively similar.

Remember that Sariel is strikingly beautiful, elegant, as well as a hard warrior. She's a fallen angel, and has an internal conflict over her worth constantly. Sariel would NEVER use a gun, so never put a gun in the piece. Her weapon of choice is a sword or large knife. She has access to a bow and arrow, but it's not used quite as often as her sword. Her hair should be a reddish brown color, and her eyes are stunningly golden colored.

You can use any colors in your deviation that you want, however, keep in mind that Sariel is a fiery energy, but is also associated with the moon. Her strongest colors are RED, ORANGE, INDIGO, and VIOLET.

Take into consideration that if you win depending on the deviation, I may need room to put the title and author (my) name.

HERE ARE THE STRICT RULES:

You must have a DeviantArt account
Your entry must be submitted as a deviation
You must use 's adult female stock photos
Entries must be in digital form and in color
If you use any other stock sources for your piece for backgrounds, brushes, weapons, etc, you must check and make sure that the deviants who produced them are giving their permission that their stock be used for an item that is going to be sold. If they request special credit on the first page of the book as well, then that can be arranged
The contest has been officially started on the 13th of October 2008, and will end at 12 a.m. January 1st, 2009. So as soon as we hit 2009 the contest will be over, and the judging will begin
Each contestant can submit a total of THREE (3) deviations for the contest
Lastly, YOU must give your permission for your work to be reproduced in print.

Each of the five winners will be mailed their own signed copy of the book. I will arrange the distribution of the other prizes soon.
